Algona, Iowa Summer Intern 2024

The Camp Algona POW Museum, Algona, Iowa is announcing an Intern position opening for the summer of 2024.  The Internship is a paid position that will begin in mid-May and last until mid-August 2024. The Intern will work each week day (5), 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The applicant must be a junior or senior in college, or a college graduate. The applicant must have earned or be working on a degree in history, public history or museum studies.  They must have PC skills, and be competent in Past Perfect.  Skills in historical research, composition, artifact care and handling are required.
The Intern will also be expected to act as a host for visitors to the museum and should have good interpersonal skills.   New this summer is the expansion of our visitor’s area.  Although the project will not be completed until late 2024, the Intern may be called upon to assist for artifact placement and exhibit design.
Camp Algona housed a total of 10,000 German prisoners of war during World War II.  Our museum opened in 2004 and has hosted an average of 2,500 visitors each year.  The Camp Algona POW Museum website is https://www.pwcampalgona.org.
