Board Member Responsibilities

Speaker: David Bright, Associate Director, Larned Waterman Iowa Nonprofit Resource Center.

FORMAT:  This 90 minute presentation will be delivered using Zoom.  The meeting link will be shared with registrants one week before the presentation, the Friday before the presentation, and the morning of the presentation.  If you do not receive it contact [email protected] at least 30 minutes prior to the presentation start time.

DESCRIPTION:  This presentation will cover the responsibilities of board members, how organizations can successfully onboard new board members, and how organizations can keep the training going at regular intervals in order to cultivate good board behaviors.

This presentation will be valuable for those who serve on nonprofit boards of directors, especially those who serve in officer roles, as well as leaders and executive directors of nonprofit organizations who work with boards of directors.

SPEAKER: David Bright is the Associate Director of the Larned A. Waterman Iowa Nonprofit Resource Center, and a member of the Board of the Iowa Museum Association.   Dave currently serves as a Senior Advisor to the American Bar Association’s Art & Cultural Heritage Law Committee, and regularly contributes to its section of the American Bar Association’s Year In Review publication. He is a frequent speaker at colleges and universities, nonprofits, and continuing education events on topics including nonprofit and tax-exempt governance, and art and museum law. He also teaches Art, Law, & Ethics; Cultural Property & Heritage; and Art & Entertainment Law at the College of Law, University of Iowa
