Museum Educator Convening

Museum Educator Convening
Convening of Iowa museum educators to talk about the draft social studies standards and how museums can partner with their community educators.
The draft social studies standards have been released and they call for an Iowa history component in K-8.

For the past two years, IMA has been partnering with Heartland AEA to raise awareness of how museum educators and museum collections can enhance learning, and museum partnerships are going to become even more important as we seek to assist educators who may not have an Iowa history background.

IMA is convening a meeting of Iowa museum educators to talk about the draft standards and how museums can partner with their community educators moving forward.   Stefanie Wager, IDOE, will join us for this discussion, to answer any questions about the process of drafting and finalizing the standards.

We will meet at the National Czech & Slovak Museum, Cedar Rapids, on Monday, December 5th from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  There is no cost to attend; no food will be served.
